This Guild Starfire Bass II is a reissue of the popular hollow-body bass guitar from the 1960s. The mahogany body is finished with a high-gloss polyurethane and combined with the 3-piece mahogany/maple neck, this bass produces that familiar, warm hollow-body sound with a light punch. The 12-inch radius, rosewood fretboard ensures optimal playing comfort and is laid with 21 narrow jumbo frets (6105). The Starfire is mounted with two Guild Bi-Sonic Bass humbucker pickups that deliver versatile tones and each has its own volume and tone potentiometer. The sound can be toggled via the 3-way pickup switch and dialled up with the master volume control.
Guild Starfire Bass II: Newark St. Collection
Guild's Starfire instruments had their fair share of loyal followers back in the '60s and there are still fans around today who own an old Starfire III, IV or bass. The Newark St. Collection honours some of the classic models from the past and includes this Starfire model, first made popular by well-known bassists like Jack Casady (Jefferson Airplane) and Phil Lesh (Grateful Dead). If you're looking for a special bass with vintage looks and sound combined with a modern feel, the Guild Starfire Bass II is an excellent choice.
